Jennie Ottinger - "Maybe she's just sleeping" - from Les Miserable

an online palliative care learning guide

The purpose of this guide is to serve as a simple palliative care and hospice reference tool for clinicians of the palliative care or hospice community, especially for those in training.  However, we encourage patients, families and friends to look through this site as a reference.

Clinical training focuses on identifying and solving problems, but often clinicians are left not knowing what to do when a problem cannot be solved.  Palliative Care is a specialty that tackles this issue, shifting the focus of care from problems to goals.  While many clinicians say, "There is nothing more we can do," Palliative care clinicians tend to offer the statement, “Indeed, here is more we can offer.” The hope is that his simple website (or ebook) will give you some basic tools on what can, truly, be done.

Each “chapter” focuses on a domain of palliative care.  Basic or key articles are indicated by ***.  Open access (free) articles are also indicated.  Our aim is to provide as many good articles that are accessible to anyone, regardless of access to library or journal subscription.

The website is a work in progress and will continuously be updated.  If you have any corrections, comments, concerns, please submit them by the form below. Thank you.
